For the past three years, Ive been giving myself annual challenges. Youre probably not going to believe me when I say that Ive gone a whole year without pizza. I mean, neither do I.. In 2016, it was Mcdo’s turn to be given up. Can you imagine? A year without eggdesal.. without mcchicken. without fillet ala king.. The purpose of those resolutions wasn’t to restrict myself or anything. It was a matter of self-discipline and control but the mcdonald’s one got me so good. Haha! It affected even the people around me. No more meetups at mcdo. Or early hot chocolate run between classes. Haha! There were times when I had to bring food from the outside and eat it at mcdonalds just so I could join the fun. Shame on me, right?
I had a hard time choosing what to give up this year but in the end, I realised I wanted to give myself a bigger challenge. Something that will might help others too.. For 2017, I vow to only buy from the thrift and local stores. Yay go me!! Of course there would be some exceptions eg shoes but I rarely get new ones unless needed so it wont be a problem. Wee
I went thrifting with Stephanie a few days ago. Yup. As though it wasn’t midterm examinations week and we weren’t busy. I missed the girl so much and Ive been earnest lately so I decided to give myself a little reward. Besides, I still owe her the trip to the thrift store that I promised during Christmas. Her little voucher, though without expiration date, was rotting in the corners.
Different thrift shops were lined up and seeing theyre all on sale made us squeeze each other’s hand and bounce like 5-year-olds. We were unearthing clothing pieces for two hours. I fell in love with the most perfect vintage shoes but quickly got my heart broken after finding out it wasn’t my size. But oh well. We tried clothes on, took fitting room photos and got an old lady mad reprimanding us for taking so long. Oops. I posted a few snippets on my snapchat and got replies asking me where were the thrift stores located. Haha!
We collectively spend no more than P1000 for the clothes that made our arms hurt from carrying them. There were too many of them we couldn’t even remember some pieces we took! If we were in the mall, we’ll be enjoying 2 shirts. Haha. Thrifting is much more enjoyable but it’s not for the faint hearted. I was sneezing like crazy and my eyes were teary the whole time but I didn’t mind as long as I was happy. And duh, new clothes!
We had plenty of time to waste, clearly, because later that day we had the audacity to watch conspiracy theory videos, and the 3rd sequel to the Butterfly Effect over dinner. I don’t even want to talk about that movie. It damaged me for good. Hahahha I wasn’t sure Id be able to go home especially it was already late but I managed. Chin dropped by as well so I stayed for a half hour more to have a face mask session with them. Haha!
That's all for today, friends. I hope im giving you something of value with these posts. Thank you so much for reading. See you tomorrow? :)
